I saw no cloud forests, spoke with almost no Ticos (except for one very drunken night with a bartender, two of the cleaning staff, my brother, and my cousin), and did not shit my brains out once. I more than made up for that during my time in Bolivia, but that's another story for... well, maybe I'll not tantalize you with that one. Ever.

I spent seven years learning Spanish and got good in Bolivia... and now it's getting all commingled with French. Being so close, I say things like "deux-mil-dos" when I'm trying to say 2002, and "Est-ce que tu pasas por el stade olimpico?" What a mess.
I miss Spanish. Sigh.Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10781428454620935062noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13891711.post-1139127808518078472006-02-05T00:23:00.000-08:002006-02-05T00:23:00.000-08:00Sade was the nickname for my traveling companera s...Sade was the nickname for my traveling companera sarah.

Yo peep this sucka, the nastiest skankiest hostel went for no less than 10 a night. Times seven. 12 a day for food, at the very least. Times seven. I had about 925-950 if memory serves. divided by 5. Being all OLD n sheeit, maybe I dun went and ferGOT, at near 30? it SUCKED. dont forget airport taxes, tips, cab fare, bus fare, internet cafe time to tell your parents you are still alive and a beer every now n again.

Course you can do it. It sure is fun to sweat every penny you pay the cab driver or the range rover driver to get you out of a mess, when the travel book doesn't seem to mention the $10 ride into town up a huge muddy hill...I still wouldn't discourage anyone. go do it-anywhere. it's better than sitting on ones ahem watchin reality shows.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05340606442672246784noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13891711.post-1139117038598254102006-02-04T21:23:00.000-08:002006-02-04T21:23:00.000-08:00Sade? Made me think of all my travels in the past couple of years, even though they weren't as far afield as yours.

Seems like it wouldn't be that hard to bum around Costa Rica on 1K. I could go from coast to coast in the US (two weeks) for about half that much.

I have never skinny dipped in a pool. I have dipped my skinny in a lake and in the ocean, but the pool leaves not all that much to the imagination. Why does it upset me to learn that a high school teacher is more hardcore than me?

-Suleysuleymanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10902073486054174225noreply@blogger.com
